The antigen testing pilot project at Slovak borders could start as soon as Monday, 9 November at the border with Ukraine, announced Foreign Ministry state secretary Martin Klus, adding that certain specific groups of travellers could be exempted from the testing requirement. According to Klus, testing at other Slovak borders could be realistic by 15 November.
Meanwhile, President Zuzana Čaputová told a joint news conference with Prime Minister Igor Matovič on Wednesday that she supports the testing at state borders, as well as targeted testing in hospitals, care homes and among those dealing with critical infrastructure.
The president also welcomes the option of free coronavirus testing in district towns. She views positively the decision to conduct the second round of mass testing only in the most badly affected areas.
The second round of mass testing for will be provided by approximately 2,993 testing teams on 3,000 testing locations, and it will take place during the coming weekend on November 7 and 8 in districts where more than 0.7% of people tested positive during the first round of testing. This limit grants an exception to 25 districts including Kosice and Bratislava.
