About 43% of Slovaks surveyed by the job website Profesia.sk said that for a well-paid job they would be prepared to move to a neighbouring country. About one-third of the respondents in the survey declared they would be willing to move for work to an even more distant country. Most prone to migration are young people under the age of 34. ”Young people no longer see any difference in whether they are looking for a job in Slovakia or move elsewhere,” said Profesia CEO Ivana Molnarova.
More than half of the people earning over €1,500 per month stated they would move for a better job to a neighbouring country and 39 percent of the highest earning group would be willing to relocate to more distant foreign country. ”The least willing to move to neighbouring countries are people with the lowest average wage of up to €500 per month, which may mean that they are discouraged by the initial entry costs necessary for moving abroad,” said Molnarova.
