Health Minister: Most of new COVID-cases from foreign seasonal workers

This week Slovakia has recorded the highest number of active COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the epidemics - 1,055 as of Wednesday. Most new cases are imported via seasonal workers. Health Minister Marek Krajči (OĽaNO) on Wednesday called on businesses to "dust off" their contingency plans and respect all anti-epidemic measures when employing seasonal workers. On Tuesday, the Public Health Authorities recorded 100 and on Wednesday 80 new cases, the majority of them being seasonal workers from Ukraine employed in a company near the town of Senec. Minister Krajči noted on Wednesday that the Government along with the central crisis management team do not plan to introduce such radical anti-coronavirus measures as those implemented during the first wave of the virus outbreak. According to Krajči, people are already educated and know how to protect themselves against the virus, adding that the virus situation in Slovakia is under control and that there is no community spread.
