As of Friday, the town of Čadca in northern Slovakia will close primary and nursery schools, sporting facilities, a swimming pool operated by the town and a community centre due to the deteriorating situation with COVID-19 in the town in recent days. A total of 25 active COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the district of Čadca, including eleven on Wednesday alone.
"It was expected that new cases would emerge, as hygienists are actively searching and testing people who've been in contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases," said Public Health Authority spokesperson Dáša Račková, adding that most of the new cases were relatives of people diagnosed earlier with the novel coronavirus.
