The gradual reopening of schools and kindergartens will be discussed at a series of upcoming talks, with several scenarios on the table, Prime Minister Igor Matovič (OLaNO) stated on Monday. He has conceded that the gradual reopening schedule may depend on the age of students as well as the profession of their parents. Matovič believes that the first to return to classrooms should be children of police officers, medical personnel and soldiers, but underlined that the discussion on specifics had just begun.
Meanwhile Health Minister Marek Krajčí (OLaNO) has called for a return to normal in the carrying out of planned surgical operations and medical exams, which had been put on hold in the face of the outbreak. Chief Hygienist Jan Mikas, along with the national crisis committee, have drafted guidelines in this context. The number of beds reserved for COVID-19 patients has been reduced, with the rest freed up for the provision of regular health care.
