According to sociologist Olga Gyarfašová, SDKU-DS and Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) are the two parties that suffered the most after the fall of Iveta Radičová's Government and the early election in 2012. “SDKU-DS lost 234,000 votes in 2012 when compared to the election in 2010,” said Gyarfasova adding that almost 27,000 former SDKU-DS voters supported Smer-SD in 2012, but only around 5,000 Smer voters moved in the opposite direction when compared to 2010. The Freedom and Solidarity party failed to maintain a big part of its voters as well. “SaS garnered 157,000 votes less in the 2012 March election than in 2010. Only around 74,000 of its supporters from 2010 voted for it again in 2012, which [alone] wouldn't have sufficed for re-election to Parliament,” Gyarfašová pointed out.
As a result, if the election took place in March the governing Smer-SD party would have garnered as much as 47.2 percent of the respondents' votes, according to a poll carried out by Median on a sample of 1,134 respondents. Scoring considerably lower, Christian Democrats (KDH) would have received 9.6 percent, placing second ahead of Ordinary People (OLaNO) on 9 percent. These Opposition parties would have been followed by fellow incumbent Opposition parties Most-Hid (6.4 percent), Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 6.2 percent and SDKU-DS 6 percent.
