Only approximately one-third of Slovak CEOs believe their business will grow in the following year, according to the results of the 2013 Slovak CEO Survey carried out by consultancy firm PwC in association with Forbes magazine. Slovak entrepreneurs are becoming less and less optimistic in the past few months due to unfavourable prospects for 2013, according to which the GDP growth will be only slightly above 1 percent and the unemployment rate that reached almost 15 percent as of February.

According to the poll, the firms view innovation as the best way how to succeed in an unstable business environment.  Another 21 percent would go for the organic growth of their firms at the existing domestic market and another 18 percent in existing foreign markets. In addition, 61 percent of the surveyed CEOs responded that their priority was to improve the quality of services their companies provide. As to the Government aid aimed at increasing the innovation potential of firms in Slovakia, as many as 79 percent of company directors conceded that they would welcome certain tax relief and the elimination of tax obstacles.
