What could Slovakia look like in 2030?

In 2030, GDP growth will not be a key factor in Slovakia's development or in assessing the quality of life in the country, according to a draft on the strategy and vision of this country's evolution by 2030. The number of people facing poverty and social exclusion should be reduced by a quarter. By then Slovakia should also have a well-integrated and efficient public administration which will withstand political pressure and political cycles. Its environment should also be protected. These are only a few of the ideas in the strategic document called "Slovakia in 2030" prepared by experts from various ministries and companies and discussed at a national convention on Monday. It is divided into four development programmes, namely Natural, Human Resources and Cultural Potential; An Innovative and Sustainable Economy; Good Health and Quality Life for All; and Multilevel Governance Closer to the Public.

Vice-premier for Investment and Informatisation Richard Raši (Smer-SD) says that it's important that the document isn't questioned by any future government. "You won't be able to find anything in the entire document that concerns politics or political opinions and perceptions." He went on to say that the material should be presented to Parliament so that all MPs can address it. His party colleague Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický has noted, however, that the document itself doesn't mention how the measures will be financed, hinting only that there will be several sources.
