Overall support for agriculture in Slovakia within the Common Agricultural Policy will increase compared with last year.
As the head of the European Commission’s Representation to Slovakia Dušan Chrenek informed, there are several tools that can be set up at the national level, such as the possibility to reallocate funds from rural development to direct payments, or the use of a portion of finances for payments linked to production. Brussels sent 4 billion euro to the accounts of Slovak farmers in the previous programming period. The assistance in 2014-2020 should increase to 4.7 billion euro. With Slovak state assistance included, farmers in Slovakia are likely to get as much as 5.35 billion euro.
