Current PM more trusted than former one

More than half of the Slovak population (52%) believes that current Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini is a better head of government than his predecessor Robert Fico, according to research conducted by the Focus agency. On the contrary, only 21% think that Fico was better in the post. Both politicians represent the largest governing SMER-SD party, with Fico as its chair.

Former PM maintained preferences only among voters of the SMER-SD party. Among them, 60% favored him in the research. Voters of all other political entities view Pellegrini as a better head of government. The current PM earned a higher trust among supporters of the opposition Sloboda and Solidarita and Christian Democrats, where 69% of their voters prefer Pellegrini to Fico.

The MP for the SMER-SD party, Erik Tomáš, considers this survey to be unprofessional and believes that it aims to create a conflict between these two politicians. Tomáš also added that they could not be compared.

The research was conducted in the second half of September on 1,015 respondents by the Focus agency for TV Markíza.
