The health care system should receive €5 billion which represents historically the highest sum from the state budget, according to its draft published last Friday. This number represents an increase by €244 million compared to last year. The deficit is at its historically lowest level and as the Denník N daily wrote, thanks to it Slovak public debt should decline to a level which respects a deficit brake after seven years.
The Finance Ministry earmarked €400 million for social packages such as free lunches for students and recreational vouchers for holidays in Slovakia. "An almost balanced management is projected for 2019 to achieve a medium-term budgetary target. In 2020, balanced economic activities are projected and in 2021 for the first time a surplus of 0.2 percent of GDP," said the Finance Ministry.
The overall income of the budget is almost at a level of €15,5 billion, and expenses should be at the level of over €17,6 billion. The Denník N daily points to the fact that according to the plans of the second government of Robert Fico (2012-2016), Slovakia should have had no deficit budget this year already. Moreover, last year most of the EU countries had better budgetary results.
The Finance Ministry has submitted the draft state budget to the tripartite meeting to be held on October 8.
