The most beautiful Christmas for Matej Tóth

Slovak race-walker Matej Tóth was found innocent and can compete again. International Association of Athletics Federations will not appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the verdict of the Slovak Athletic Union in the case of the Olympic winner from Rio de Janeiro 2016 in the 50 km walk. The decision means that Tóth was exonerated from the accusations of breaking the anti-doping rules.

Slovak race-walker Matej Tóth has been suspended from competing over the alleged breach of anti-doping rules. The IAAF's Athletic Integrity Unit took this step due to irregularities in his biological passport. The Slovak World champion and an Olympic winner decided to prove his innocence based on expert research. His defence arguments were stretched over altogether 250 pages of writing and included 7 viewpoints by experts from the field of haematology and metabolism.

Matej Tóth has also been recognized internationally as a fighter for fair play and anti-doping awareness. On Thursday, he expressed his joy over the IAAF's decision. "This will be one of the most beautiful Christmas holidays in my life. I am happy that the truth has come out," said the Slovak athlete, adding that he is happy that the IAAF experts respected the fact that the only irregularity in his biological passport was only the result of his natural physiological state of his body.
