Out of the four Visegrad countries, Slovak users access Internet from their mobile devices – tablets and smart phones – the most, according to the newest survey carried out by the research agency Gemius. While in Slovakia one quarter of all websites are accessed via mobile internet, it is only a fifth in the Czech Republic and only 13 percent of all websites in Hungary.
The survey also focused on users' preference of using different types of devices when connected to the internet during the day. "Mobile phones are most popular in the morning, desktop computers are most used during working hours and tablets in the evening from 6pm," said Izabela Urbanova from Gemius adding that the largest share of searches from tablets is between 9-10 p.m. According to Urbanova, the share of internet searches from mobile devices in Visegrad countries is dynamically growing. "The use of mobile internet in Central Europe, however, still lags behind Western Europe. In Denmark for example, 34 percent of internet traffic to websites comes from mobile devices," said Urbanova. The survey also shows that the most widely used mobile operating system for mobile phones and tablets in Slovakia is Android. "Nearly 80 percent of all mobile website traffic comes from Android," stated Urbanova.
