The Vision for Slovakia’s Development Must Be Apolitical

A vision and strategy for the development of Slovakia must be apolitical, according to the Vice President of American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia, Peter Škodný. "It can’t happen that every time the Government changes the strategy changes too. No company is able to function this way so why should a country do so?" he said, adding that this issue could be solved by the adoption of development strategies as constitutional law, which can’t be changed so easily.

He sees a problem in the Slovak education sector, which is stuck in the past, adding that the future of Europe is in advanced manufacturing. "We have to start to build a new workforce, change the education system from its roots so that we are able to support extraordinary people, not masses. And then there will be innovation," Škodný says. The Deputy Education Minister Štefan Chudoba  admitted this sector has lots of problems  and added that  innovation must focus on the goals of the society and not on departmental objectives .
