Survey: Slovak Companies Expect 2013 Results to Be Down

Some 36 percent of companies in Slovakia expect to have worse performance for this year than in 2012, while 25 percent expect better results and one third expect profits to stay the same as last year. This stems from the GfK Leadership Barometer 2013 survey, released on Thursday.

Companies currently consider the quality of their products, effective pricing and customer loyalty to be the most important, while three years ago companies indicated cost savings as most important. The strategic priorities in the management of companies in Slovakia have changed as well. “These findings clearly confirm the fact that companies implemented changes on the cost side over the past three years," said GfK Czech and Slovakia CEO Martin Mravec. Three-fifths of the 500 companies in the survey expect the ranking of players in their sector to change. The survey also revealed that one in four companies think that in 2014 their actions will affect the sector in which it operates, and 60 percent of companies stated that their ranking in the sector will change over the next three years.
