The internet website Euractiv.sk has published a list of the 40 most influential people in the Slovak energy sector. The list does not rank them from the most to the least influential, however. It divides the names into three categories; an influencer, an institutional, and an analyst. There are 24 influencers on the list and only one of them comes from the NGO sector: Pavol Široký is the head of the 'For Mother Earth' NGO. The rest of the people in the influencer group work in private and also state run energy companies, such as representatives of the oil refining company Slovnaft--including its General Director Oskar Világi--of the gas companies SPP and Eustream as well as of the steel producer U.S. Steel Košice, and of electricity distribution companies. Also included on the list as influencers are entrepreneurs from the energy sector, such as Ján Sabol, Slavomír Hatina and Ján Brhel as well as the former Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek, who currently works in Eustream.
Among the fourteen names labelled 'Institutional', Euractiv listed people working for state and EU institutions. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Economy Minister Peter Žiga, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, as well as MPs of both coalition and opposition parties are included here. Only two people are labelled as analysts. They both work in the think tank Slovak Foreign Policy Association. Alexander Duleba is its general director and Karel Hirman is the director of its energy activities. There is only one woman on the list; Lívia Vašáková, Representative of the European Commission in Bratislava.
