The leaders of three governing parties Smer-SD, the Slovak National Party and Most-Híd signed a new Coalition Agreement on Thursday. This was caused by the fact that party Sieť (Network) had to leave the coalition after five of its seven MPs departed and joined Most-Híd's caucus in Parliament. According to Prime Minister and chair of Smer-SD Robert Fico there is no alternative to the government of these three parties. The leaders of three governing parties state that the Coalition still has 81 MPs supporting the Government Manifesto, so it's counting on the remaining two MPs from Sieť.
The foursome coalition was formed after the general election in March this year. Subsequently one MP from Most-Híd and three MPs from Sieť left their parties due to fact that they did not want to be a part of coalition ruled by Smer-SD and Prime Minister Robert Fico. This summer the former leader of Sieť, Radoslav Procházka, called off the party's deputy chairs. This lead to the creation of a platform of five MPs who were unhappy with the situation in the party, subsequently initiating an extraordinary congress whereby Radoslav Procházka was replaced. However, the rebelling MPs were not satisfied with the new leadership either and joined the Most-Híd's caucus, which now has fifteen MPs - as many as the Slovak National Party. Moreover, transfers among the MPs also meant that Sieť lost the only Ministry under its management, as Roman Brecely - a Sieť appointee who was not an MP - was removed from the post of Transport, Construction and Regional Development Minister and replaced by deputy minister Árpád Érsek of Most-Híd. Érsek was appointed to his post by President Andrej Kiska on Wednesday. The posts of Sieť's deputy ministers at other ministries were divided between Most-Híd and Slovak National Party.
