New short movies shot about cultural monuments

The history, as well as the current reconstruction works, of over 20 Slovak historical monuments will be introduced in a project called Cultural Heritage. The project will be conducted by the Government Office in cooperation with a private filmmaking company. The collection should consist of short videos and a series of 120 photos of the monuments.

"I think that the 21 movies to be created will be a representative selection, which should open the eyes of many people who know nothing about Slovakia,"

said František Palonder of the public broadcaster RTVS, and the director of a movie about the reconstruction of the Devín Castle in Bratislava. The project, supported by Norwegian, Icelandic and Lichtenstein funds, is aimed not only at local but also at foreign audiences.

"We will provide the movies to all foreign embassies. If, for example, the English, the French or the Germans would like to invite their fellow countrymen to Slovakia, they can use these movies for promotion,"

said Oľga Valentová, one of the project leaders. The movies should be finished by the end of September this year.
