The four parties, Smer-SD, Slovak National Party (SNS), Most-Hid and Sieť (Network), reached an agreement on the division of Governmental posts. The leader of the Smer-SD party Robert Fico presented it to President Andrej Kiska on Thursday and the President has therefore set the date for the Parliament's opening meeting for March 23rd. At this session, the newly elected MP will pledge their vows and formally take their mandate.
As the party with the largest amount of election votes, Smer-SD will receive the posts of Prime Minister, Vice-Premier for Investments, Interior Ministry, Finance Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Health Ministry and the Economy, Culture and Labour Ministries. The Slovak National Party is to take over the Defence, Education and Agriculture Ministries. Most-Hid will nominate 2 ministers, for the Justice and the Environment Ministry, whereas Siet (Network) will get the Transportation Ministry.
Robert Fico is likely to remain Prime Minister and Miroslav Lajčák Foreign Affairs minister. Lucia Žitňanská, from the Most-Hid party, is expected to take over the Justice Ministry, as for short periods of time that was her post in 2006 and 2010. The names of other representatives of the executive power are not definite yet. The four parties also agreed that the position of Parliamentary Chairman will go to the Slovak National Party (Andrej Danko). Smer, Most-Hid and Sieť will nominate one vice-chair each and the remaining vice-chair seat will belong to the opposition. The future government parties have also reached an agreement on significantly extending powers of the Vice-Premier for Investments, thus increasing the portfolio's profile.
