Slovak cyclist Viktória Chladoňová has won bronze in the women’s under-23 road race at the European Championships in Slovenia. The 20-year-old, fresh from winning the world title in Montreal, finished in the same time as winner Mara Winter of Switzerland and silver medallist Nienke Vinke of the Netherlands.
The 88-kilometre race featured four climbs, with the decisive breakaway forming on the final ascent. Chladoňová made the front group of four and contested the sprint for the title, finishing third. Slovakia’s Sofia Ungerová finished 14th, while Nina Andacká was 18th, both more than a minute behind the winner.
