Over the weekend at the World Championship in Switzerland, the Slovak hockey team first suffered a narrow 2–3 defeat to Czechia before falling 1–5 to Canada. The Slovaks put up a spirited fight in both games but failed to capitalize on key opportunities against the Canadians. Slovakia’s chances of advancing to the quarterfinals will be decided in its final group-stage match against Sweden on Tuesday, 26 May.
