Slovak Athlete Zapletalová Claims Bronze at World Athletics Championships

Slovak athlete Emma Zapletalová claimed bronze in the 400m hurdles at the World Championships in Tokyo, setting a national record of 53.00 seconds. It is Slovakia’s fifth medal in the history of the event and the first since 2015, when Matej Tóth won gold at the 50km walk in Beijing Olympics. Victory went to the favorite Femke Bol of the Netherlands, who improved her own world-leading time to 51.54 seconds. Friday’s programme also featured season-best performances in the men’s triple jump and women’s 200m. American Noah Lyles secured his fourth consecutive world title in the 200m.
