Slovakia’s national football team has kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in style, picking up all six points from their opening two matches. After a big 2–0 win at home against the heavily favored Germans, the team grabbed another three points on Sunday with a late 1–0 victory in Luxembourg. The winning goal came right at the end — in the 90th minute — thanks to Tomáš Rigo.
The qualifiers continue next month. On October 10th, Slovakia, under head coach Francesco Calzona, travels to Belfast to take on Northern Ireland. Then on October 13th, they’ll be back on home turf in Trnava to face Luxembourg once again.
