Slovakia’s national football team kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a historic 2-0 win over Germany in Bratislava. It was the Slovaks’ first-ever competitive victory against the four-time world champions.
Dávid Hancko and David Strelec scored the goals that secured the victory. For Germany, it marked their fourth loss in World Cup qualifiers – and their first ever away defeat.
The Slovak national team will now travel to Luxembourg for their next Group A match on Sunday.
