Slovaks Bring Home Nine Medals from World Goldpanning Championship

Slovak gold panners earned nine medals and two world titles at the World Goldpanning Championship held this August in Navelgas, Spain, according to František Küffer, president of the Slovak Association of Gold Panners (SAZ).

Daniela Múčková claimed a world championship title in the traditional pan (Chinese hat) category, outperforming over 550 competitors from 23 countries. František Küffer successfully defended his title in the veterans category.

"An extraordinary achievement came from 15-year-old Slovak representative Sofia Adamcová, who won silver in the most prestigious women's division—women professionals," said Küffer.

František Küffer and Janka Küfferová also secured silver in the doubles competition and added a bronze medal in the unique night gold panning event.

In the doubles category, Dušan Kováč and Šimon Jakuš reached the final round. "Šimon is our disabled athlete, known to many as Wolfi from the TV series Dunaj k vašim službám (The Danube at Your Service)," Küffer added.

The 19-member Slovak team’s participation in the championship was financially supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Slovak Republic.
