The Slovak women’s handball team has made history by winning the European Under-17 Championship in Podgorica, Montenegro.
In Sunday’s final, Slovakia defeated Croatia 34-30 to claim their first-ever gold medal at this level.
Reaching the final was itself a milestone, as the young Slovak squad also secured qualification for next year’s Under-18 World Championship by advancing to the quarterfinals.
Slovak players earned individual honours too, with Liliana Gogová named best defender and Mária Bartková selected for the All-Star team as the top left back.
