Pushing limits: Slovak female triathlete makes XTRI history

On May 10, Slovak triathlete Nikola Čorbová achieved a breakthrough success in the world of sports, becoming the first woman in history to win the overall ranking at one of the world’s most extreme triathlons – the Himalayan Xtri World Tour.

The race took place in the stunning but challenging environment of the Himalayan mountains in Nepal, around the city of Pokhara, and required not only exceptional physical strength, but also immense mental endurance.

The Slovak athlete faced a brutal course that puts every competitor to the test: 3.8 kilometers of swimming in the dark in the cold waters of Lake Fewa, 152 kilometers of cycling on busy Nepalese roads with an elevation gain of 3,700 meters, and 46 kilometers of mountain running with an elevation gain of 3,100 meters, reaching up to 4,000 meters above sea level.

Nikola Čorbová completed the course in 17 hours and 8 minutes, beating all competitors, regardless of their genders. Listen to an interview with RSI in which she discussed her motivation and preparation for such an extreme performance, as well as her feelings right after she crossed the finish line.
