Trenčín-born Slovak national ice hockey team member, Zdeno Chara, the NHL’s all-time leader in games by a defenceman, was introduced into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of fame. With the national team, he won two World Championship silvers and competed in three Olympics.
IIHF stated that Chara was a powerful and respected captain who led Boston to a Stanley Cup in 2011. Having retired in 2022, Chara is remembered as one of hockey’s greatest leaders and competitors.
