Slovakia suffered a 2:3 shootout loss to Austria at the 2024 Ice Hockey World Championship in Stockholm, marking their second defeat in three games. After falling behind 0:2 in the first period, Slovakia fought back with goals from Samuel Honzek and captain Matúš Sukeľ, who was named best Slovak player. The match went to a shootout after a scoreless overtime, where Austria’s Peter Schneider secured the win. Slovakia now sits fourth in Group A with four points and faces France next on May 14.
