The Slovak national hockey team claimed their first victory at the 88th World Championship in Stockholm. The Slovaks confirmed their role as favorites in their second appearance at the tournament on Sunday and defeated Slovenia 3:1. The Slovaks were clearly the better team from the start. Sebastián Čederle and Pavol Regenda scored for Slovakia in the first period. Michal Krištof finished the scoring in the second period. In the next match of Group A, coach Vladimír Országh's team will play against Austria on Monday, May 12 at 4:20 p.m.
