Slovak hockey extends historic winning streak

The Slovak hockey team who are preparing for next year’s winter Olympics, defeated Germany for the second time in a row. After Wednesday's 4:0 victory, they defeated the Germans in Banská Bystrica 3:1.

Sebastián Čederle, who scored a hat-trick in the first match, once again stood out as he scored the games opening goal.  The second goal for Slovakia was scored by Martin Faško-Rudáš and the triumph was secured with  Daniel Vladimír Tkáč’s empty netter at the end of the game.  The Slovaks conceded their only goal in the two-match series after almost 103 minutes.

With this triumph, the Slovaks extended their winning streak to 10 matches, thus surpassing the previous historical maximum. Previously, in the August qualification for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Bratislava, they defeated Austria 2:1, Hungary 7:3 and Kazakhstan 3:1.

At the November German Cup, they triumphed over Austria 1:0, Germany 6:2 and Denmark 3:2 a shoot-out. At the Kaufland Cup home tournament in December, they won over Latvia 2:1 and Norway 3:1.
