Did you know that in Slovakia there are more car accidents on Friday afternoons than at any other time? If the accident is severe, firefighters are typically called to remove trapped passengers and put out blazing car fires. But that's not all they do. Gradually, the fire and rescue service is having to adapt to new forms of rescue. Gavin Shoebridge takes a look at the challenges and statistics facing modern firefighters.
