Protecting Devínska Kobyla

With 742,000,000 people living in Europe today, protecting the continent's natural landscape has never been more important. In Slovakia, the Institute of Applied Ecology, known as DAPHNE, has been actively protecting and restoring natural jewels across the country. The latest project from this non-governmental organisation is the 102 hectare reserve called Devínska Kobyla, located in Bratislava. The problem? Hundreds of tourists walking off the paths on a daily basis, damaging the delicate flora, fauna, and ancient fossils. The solution, as Gavin Shoebridge found out, is simple but effective.
