The word tradition doesn’t mean long lost history, but rather a continuing pattern of practices... continuing, even if in a different form. That is also the case of traditional Slovak handicrafts, like wood carving or thread spinning and lacing. These handicrafts are being preserved, and perhaps even taken further at a few handicraft clubs, which are organised by the Slovak Center for Folk Art Production. Their members spend their free time mastering traditional craftsmen’s skills and creating their own art products.
