The Saints Cyril and Methodius came to the lands of Great Morava where Slovakia now sits in the year 863. These two missionaries brought with them Christianity and literacy which still play a key part in modern-day Slovak life. 2013 celebrates the 1150th anniversary of the two brothers from Thessaloniki coming to these lands, with their journey including the area of Devín and the castle itself which was destroyed by retreating Napoleonic troops in 1809.
Zuzana Botíková takes you on a journey back in time to Devín during the era of Cyril and Methodius to find out what it was like to live, eat - and on occasion fight - in Great Moravia.
