A European Economic Area (EEA) Civil Society Fund programme aimed at strengthening civil society organisations in Slovakia is set to launch in January 2026. According to communications manager Lucia Hasbach, the programme will distribute €9.7 million through seven grant calls by 2029. The programme agreement was signed by representatives of the donor countries—Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway—together with a Slovak consortium led by the Ekopolis Foundation.
The programme focuses on supporting civil society organisations that contribute to the development of democracy, the protection of human rights and the promotion of active citizenship in Slovakia.
The initiative is funded through the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms for the 2021–2028 period. In Slovakia, it will be implemented by a consortium comprising the Ekopolis Foundation, the Carpathian Foundation and the Open Society Foundation Bratislava.
