European Mobility Week began on Tuesday, September 16, and will run until September 22, culminating in World Car-Free Day. Supported by the Slovak Environment Agency, the initiative promotes sustainable urban transport, encouraging walking, cycling, and public transport as cleaner, safer alternatives to private cars. This year’s theme is “Mobility for All.”
Towns across Slovakia are preparing activities for residents: in Bratislava, the transport company is running free historic trams, buses, and trolleybuses all week. Nitra is hosting competitions and school events, while Banská Bystrica is offering a family bike ride and a public debate on urban spaces. In Prievidza and Bojnice, passengers can travel free on public transport for a day.
