Slovak Students at Astronomy Olympiad win Gold, Silver, and Bronze

Slovak students scored major success at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) 2025, held August 11–21 in Mumbai, India. Competing among 288 participants from 64 countries, Tomáš Kubrický won a gold medal, while Patrik Prítrský and Peter Švrlo earned silver. Mário Tlamka took bronze, and Vladimír Slanina received an honorable mention.

The competition tested contestants with challenging theoretical problems, data analysis, and practical tasks such as telescope work. Despite difficult conditions, including India’s monsoon season, the Slovak team excelled and brought home a full set of awards, marking one of the country’s strongest performances on the international stage.
