Every eliminated problematic bear that meets the proper conditions will be available for consumption, Environment Ministry State Secretary Filip Kuffa posted on a social network, adding that bear meat can be eaten.
"Anyone who wants to resell the meat must apply for a so-called CITES certificate. This guarantees that a given animal was killed legally, and at the same time allows, for example, catering facilities to offer meals from it," stated Kuffa.
As of Monday (26 May), organisations under the Environment Ministry's remit can offer killed bears for sale after all necessary conditions have been met. Kuffa declared that everything has been done in a lawful manner and that all restaurants will be able to have documents to offer bear meat on their menus.
