Prešov: Children with Down Syndrome gather for athletics festival

The Zanebudka Civic Association and the United Boarding School on Masarykova Street in Prešov will jointly organize the Athletics Festival for Children with Down Syndrome for the sixth time. The event will take place on Friday (May 23) in the sports hall of the University of Prešov, according to Hedviga Tomášová, director of the boarding school.

The aim of the event is to create opportunities for children with Down syndrome to engage in sports and friendly competition. The festival will feature various athletic disciplines, such as running, standing long jump, and cricket ball throw, all adapted to the children’s abilities—ensuring that each participant can shine and enjoy joyful moments filled with movement and fun.

Throughout the event, many parents will also have the chance to meet informally, share experiences, and exchange inspiration with one another and with educators. Athletes with experience competing in various disciplines within Special Olympics Slovakia will also be in attendance.
