On Thursday evening, rallies were held in Bratislava, Košice, Banská Bystrica, and other Slovak cities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and Europe Day. Organized by opposition parties — Progressive Slovakia (PS), SaS, KDH, and the Democrats — the events aimed to express support for Slovakia’s EU membership and values of freedom, democracy, and peace. Opposition leaders underscored the significance of May 8 as a day of victory over fascism and paid tribute to those who fought for freedom.
