Today marks the 75th anniversary of the "Barbaric Night"—a mass operation by the communist regime from April 13–14, 1950, which targeted male monasteries across Czechoslovakia. Known as "Action K," the operation led to the forcible removal of more than 880 monks from 56 monasteries, who were then sent to labor camps.
The crackdown aimed to suppress religious influence in society, but many religious communities endured despite severe conditions. Commemorative events today honor those who suffered, highlighting the resilience of faith in the face of oppression.
