On April 8’s International Romani Day, Slovakia’s Government Commissioner for Roma Communities, Alexander Daško, emphasized the importance of equality and dignity for all individuals, noting that the struggles faced by the Roma affect everyone’s quality of life. Daško also announced that on April 9, three notable individuals will be honored for their long-standing contributions to the Roma community. Various regional events will also take place across Slovakia, showcasing Roma culture, traditions, and cuisine, in towns such as Bôrka, Kostoľany, and Sokoľany. You can hear more about the International Romani Day in today’s show produced by our colleague Kamila Kamala Galjuš.
