A safe place for LGBT+ people opens in Bratislava, unveils a commemorative plaque

On Thursday, the Inakosť Initiative will open the In Community and Integration Centre in Bratislava. It is intended to be a safe space for LGBT+ people and their loved ones, who can find the necessary psychological, social, and legal assistance there. On this occasion, they also unveiled a memorial plaque on Zámocká Street honouring Juraj Vankulič and Matúš Horváth, who lost their lives in front of Tepláreň in October 2022.

The initiative has received help and support from the local government. Matej Vagač, mayor of the Old Town, where the new centre and the memorial plaque are located, said that the district will always be open to diversity, respect, and kindness despite all differences. The Deputy Mayor of Bratislava, Tatiana Kratochvílová, wished the LGBT+ community to hear words of reassurance and respect from the people around them and in the highest places.
