Slovak Roma kids do well in Britain because of teachers‘ attitude

According to various estimates Roma ethnics represent about 10% of Slovakia’s population. They are affected by high unemployment and often segregation. Some have migrated to foreign countries - be it the neighbouring Czech Republic, or as far as the United Kingdom.

Thomas Acton is an Emeritus Professor of Romani Studies at the University of Greenwich in the UK and has spent years researching the life of Gypsies, Travellers, and Roma migrants from Eastern Europe. Anca Dragu has asked him why he argues for caution when it comes to statistics about Roma ethnics.
