Writer and journalist Irena Brežná was a teenager in 1968 when her family decided to leave Czechoslovakia after this country was invaded by the Soviet Army and its allies in order to crush the locals‘ attempt to reform the communist regime. The road from native Bratislava to Switzerland via Trenčin was a tough one.
