The 24th of April used to be an important day in the traditional year cycles of Slovak shepherds. On this day, when St. George was celebrated in the calendar, it was time for the flocks of sheep to be taken out to pasture for the first time after winter.
The animals would march through the village and everybody in the close distance would notice. Why? Well because of their trademark sound. Listen carefully to get an idea, what sounds or even melodies, would typically be heard in the Slovak villages in the spring.
