For this year’s holiday season, Radio Slovakia International created a special program. On December 26th we spoke to spiritual leaders in Slovakia, people who others look for answers to. Talking with them about the holidays and their message for us – people of the 21st century was not easy at all, as there are no simple answers here. Slovakia is pre-dominantly a Catholic country, with more than 60 percent of the nation claiming adherence to the Catholic Church. So, first in the studio with Katarina Richterova was Father Anton Srholec, a Roman Catholic priest. 20 years ago, Father Srholec opened a shelter for the homeless and has been working with them ever since. At the age of 83, Anton Srholec just recently earned the award Philanthropist of the year, and is a highly respected personality and spiritual leader in Slovakia.
