It was on January 27, 1945 that Soviet soldiers liberated the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp, where the Nazis murdered about 1 million Jews. This date is now marked as the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Historians from the Holocaust Documentation Centres agree that the present society needs to be reminded more of the Holocaust and its victims. But how to do it in a culturally sensitive way?
