Note 1: When Slovak speakers name colours on their own, they use the feminine form. That’s because the Slovak word for colour, “farba”, is feminine. In practice, words such as “modrá” (blue), “červená” (red), or “zelená” (green) are shortened forms of expressions like “modrá farba”, “červená farba”, and “zelená farba”.
Note 2: Colours in Slovak behave like adjectives, which means their endings change to match the gender of the noun they describe. For example, “modrá farba” (blue colour) is feminine, “modrý dom” (blue house) is masculine, and “modré auto” (blue car) is neutral. This agreement applies to all colours.
